Introduction & Explanation
The Crescent View Villas project was commissioned by Lady Eleanor Hawthorne, who sought a series of coastal villas that offered unparalleled views of the ocean, modern luxury, and environmental harmony. The project required a design that embraced open spaces, utilized natural materials, and prioritized sustainable living without compromising on comfort or elegance.
One of the primary challenges was the site’s coastal location, which required careful planning to mitigate the effects of harsh winds, salt exposure, and potential flooding. Additionally, the project had to navigate stringent environmental regulations to ensure minimal impact on the delicate marine ecosystem.
Balancing these considerations with the client’s desire for floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive terraces added further complexity.
To meet Lady Eleanor’s vision, we developed a design that harmonized with the natural beauty of the coastline. Elevated foundations were used to protect against potential flooding, and durable materials resistant to coastal weathering, such as treated wood and marine-grade steel, were carefully selected.
Outcome & Insights
Each villa was oriented to capture panoramic ocean views, with expansive glass walls and strategically placed terraces. Passive cooling techniques, such as cross-ventilation and shaded verandas, were integrated to reduce energy consumption. Solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems were also installed to enhance sustainability.
